Recipe can be doubled easily for large groups.<\/div>\n<div class=\"ERIngredients\">\n<div class=\"ERIngredientsHeader\">Ingredients<\/div>\n<ul class=\"ingredients\">\n<li class=\"ingredient\">6 to 8 whole chicken legs cut into thighs and drumsticks.<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1\/2 tsp kosher salt<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">12 good grinds of black pepper<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">Good splash of extra-virgin olive oil<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">2 1\/2 tb (50 g) butter<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1 large onion finely chopped<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">3 garlic cloves (about 1 1\/2 tb) thinly sliced<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">Generous sprigs of fresh thyme (save some for garnish)<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1\/3 cup (100 ml) white wine vinegar<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">2\/3 cup (200 ml) white wine (your choice of wine)<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1 1\/2 cups (375 ml) home made chicken stock<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">3\/4 cup (200 ml) double cream (whipping cream)<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">FOR THE LYONNAISE POTATOES:<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">6 large Yukon gold potatoes<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">kosher salt and freshly ground pepper to taste<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">8-9 tb (125 g) butter<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1 onion thinly sliced<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">2 fat garlic cloves crushed<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">A good splash of extra-virgin olive oil<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ERInstructions\">\n<div class=\"ERInstructionsHeader\">Instructions<\/div>\n<div class=\"instructions\">\n<ol>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Preheat oven to 325 F (170C)<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Prepare the Lyonnaise potatoes:<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Cook the unpeeled potatoes in gently simmering salted water until almost soft all the way through. Remove and leave to cool completely.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Salt and pepper the chicken pieces<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Brown the chicken pieces in the oil and butter in a heavy pan until nicely golden and caramelized.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Remove the chicken and set aside.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Add the onion, garlic, and sprigs of thyme to the pan and cook until soft &#8211; scraping about the brown bits of the chicken. Add more oil if necessary.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Add the white wine vinegar and reduce by two-thirds.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Add the white wine and reduce by half.<\/li>\n<li class=\"instruction\">Add the stock and bring to the boil.
